TIME TRAVELERS

The elements within the earth begin a journey of transformation over time. Iron ore becomes a paper clip. Silica becomes a Tiffany lampshade. Minerals and oil become the Mona Lisa. From an orchestration of earth’s bounty... a Ford is born and begins its journey through time and distance. In time its journey will come to an end... so it seems. But it does not.

The glass lamp breaks, the paper clip twists and snaps, the Model T ceases, but they continue, returning to their mother... mother earth. A transformation: rust and oxidation, mineralization, deterioration, a deconstruction for the TIME TRAVELER journey back to their origins.

END OF THE ROAD

END OF THE ROAD palette consists of spent and fractured automobile parts, broken asphalt road surfaces, and objects embedded in them, in various stages of deterioration.

A recent addition to my ARCHEOART works, END OF THE ROAD explores the end of a form of freedom of movement. Like contemplating fossils of prehistoric life locked in sedimentary stone I ponder END OF THE ROAD objects in asphalt and wonder; after oil wars have taken their tolls, after greenhouse gas replaces regular unleaded, after battery acid has leached into the ground water how far away is the END OF THE ROAD?

ANIMALS

The sculptures bring new ANIMAL species to light with new purposes, relationships and dependencies stimulating our imagination, giving us a new sense of time and usage.

Examine the transformations bringing new life to discarded objects . Imagine what our world would be like if we held all things precious and useful, the positive result of recycling our perspectives, our perceived values.

GEOLOMORPHOSIS

GEOLOMORPHOSIS (Geological/Metamorphosis) transforms unearthed stones and man made objects, in various stages of mineralization, deterioration and decomposition, into butterflies who’s patterns and patinas only time can paint.

The symmetrical fit of the two matching rock halves split along sedimentary lines, mirror each other and open like butterfly wings... a true metamorphosis of the stone." In concert with other unearthed object, endless patterns as diverse as butterflies.

PORTRAITS

Like discarded trash, discarded people are a product of their environment.

Imagine what our world would be like if we held all people precious and useful, the positive result of recycling our perspectives, our perceived values.

UNEARTHED

The aging of exhausted materials exposed to the sun, wind and rain is a transitional process, a form of deconstruction. Time, environment and circumstance integrate the objects through oxidation, mineralization and deterioration. It is through these experiences and interrelationships disparate objects express harmony and unity. SHOVELS embrace the palette of the UNEARTHED artist’s medium.

ARTIFACTS AMERICANA

The bits of antiquity comprising AMERICAN ARCHIVES constructions were primarily found at flea markets and in antique shops.

Objects from our past involve our senses. Old things smell old. Aromas and patinas only time can paint become reference points giving us a 'sense' of history. This awareness adds an emotional context to historical information relating us to the feeling of our past not just the subject of it.
